Ever wonder what "natural flavors" means on a label. It doesn't have to be just tea but it's worth asking the question. At Urbal Tea, the flavors we use are “Organic Compliant” flavors. This means that the flavoring’s essences and oils are derived from natural products.
These elements are combined with a fast evaporating “carrier” for applying to for example, leaf tea. We spray it on the tea whilst blending takes place, the carrier flashes off and the flavor/aroma remains on the leaf. We use a naturally produced organic ethyl alcohol as their carrier.
Unfortunately, most “natural” flavors use something called PPG (propylene glycol) as the carrier. BUT, this is a man-made chemical and closely related to a substance used for de-icing aircrafts.
